The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 5 is a premium wireless earbuds offering designed for users who prioritize excellent sound quality, comfort, and advanced audio features. As the successor to the Momentum True Wireless 4, the new model brings improvements in sound personalization, noise cancellation, connectivity, and overall usability. With Dolby Atmos support, adaptive noise cancellation, and a redesigned ergonomic structure, these earbuds aim to deliver a flagship listening experience.
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 5: Design and Comfort
The Momentum True Wireless 5 features a redesigned body that sits comfortably inside the ears. Sennheiser has focused on improving ergonomics, making the earbuds suitable for extended listening sessions. The new design removes the stability fins found on the previous generation while maintaining a secure fit.
The earbuds are available in multiple attractive color options, including Graphite, Cream, Copper, Denim, and Lavender. Their premium appearance makes them suitable for everyday use, travel, workouts, and professional environments.
The earbuds also feature an IP54 rating, offering protection against dust and splashes of water. This makes them suitable for light workouts and outdoor activities, although the charging case itself is not water-resistant.
Sound Quality and Audio Performance
Sound quality remains the biggest highlight of the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 5. The earbuds use 7mm TrueResponse dynamic drivers designed to deliver detailed, balanced, and natural audio reproduction.
Bass performance is controlled and powerful without overwhelming vocals or instruments. The midrange sounds natural, while the improved high-frequency presentation provides greater clarity and detail. Users can enjoy different music genres, including pop, rock, classical, electronic, and acoustic tracks.
The earbuds support high-resolution wireless audio up to 24-bit/96kHz through compatible devices and codecs. They also offer aptX Lossless support, providing an enhanced wireless listening experience when supported by the connected smartphone.
Another important addition is Dolby Atmos spatial audio with head tracking, which creates a more immersive listening experience for compatible content.
Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode
The Momentum True Wireless 5 includes adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which automatically adjusts according to the surrounding environment. It helps reduce unwanted sounds such as traffic noise, background conversations, and other distractions.
The Natural Transparency mode allows users to hear surrounding sounds without removing the earbuds. This feature is useful when talking to someone, walking outdoors, or listening for announcements.
Sennheiser has also introduced Adaptive Anti-Wind technology, which helps reduce wind interference during outdoor listening and calls.
Battery Life and Connectivity
Battery performance is another major advantage. The earbuds offer up to 12 hours of playback on a single charge, while the charging case increases total listening time to approximately 40 hours.
The charging case supports USB-C and Qi wireless charging. Fast charging provides approximately one hour of playback after just eight minutes of charging.
Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity ensures compatibility with modern smartphones, including Android and iPhone devices. The earbuds support SBC, AAC, aptX, and aptX Adaptive codecs.
Smart Features and Call Quality
The Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app offers extensive customization options. Users can adjust sound through an 8-band equalizer, personalize audio settings, configure touch controls, and manage noise cancellation.
For calls, four microphones per earbud and AI-powered voice isolation help improve voice clarity. The earbuds are suitable for everyday conversations, online meetings, and hands-free communication.
Final Verdict
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 5 is a strong premium earbuds option for music enthusiasts looking for excellent sound quality, immersive audio, comfortable design, and advanced customization. Its adaptive ANC, Dolby Atmos support, long battery life, and replaceable batteries make it a compelling upgrade over the previous generation.
However, buyers looking for the strongest possible noise cancellation or dedicated gaming earbuds may want to compare other flagship options before making a purchase.
