Google Fitbit Edge Offers GPS and Seven-Day Battery

Google has introduced the Fitbit Edge, a new fitness tracker designed for users who want a display, advanced health monitoring, and longer battery life without purchasing a full smartwatch. The wearable sits between Google’s screenless fitness trackers and its more advanced Pixel Watch lineup.

The Fitbit Edge combines a slim design with workout tracking, built-in GPS, health sensors, and smartphone notifications. Google claims the device can deliver up to seven days of battery life on a single charge, making it an option for people who prefer not to charge their wearable every night.

Google Fitbit Edge Display and Design

The Fitbit Edge features a 1.34-inch AMOLED colour display with always-on functionality. The screen provides additional viewing space for fitness statistics and notifications, making information easier to read during everyday activities.

The tracker measures approximately 11.5mm in thickness and weighs 17.7 grams without its band. Its aluminium case and lightweight construction are designed for comfortable everyday wear. A physical side button allows users to navigate the interface and access workout controls.

The Fitbit Edge is available in four finishes: Obsidian, Fog, Olive, and Canyon. Users can also personalise the wearable with compatible interchangeable bands.

Battery Life and Charging

Battery performance is one of the Fitbit Edge’s key features. Google claims up to seven days of use on a single charge under its testing conditions. However, enabling the always-on display reduces the advertised battery life to up to two days.

The device supports fast magnetic charging, with five minutes of charging providing up to one day of battery life under suitable conditions. A full charge takes approximately 90 minutes.

Another notable feature is its replaceable battery. The Fitbit Edge uses a modular internal design intended to help extend the device’s useful lifespan. This approach could appeal to consumers who want to keep their wearable for longer instead of replacing it when battery performance deteriorates.

Fitness Tracking and GPS Features

The Fitbit Edge is designed to track a variety of physical activities, including running, walking, cycling, and other workouts. It supports more than 50 exercise modes, along with automatic recognition of selected workouts.

Its built-in GPS allows users to record outdoor exercise routes without relying entirely on their smartphone’s location tracking. The tracker also offers improved GPS accuracy compared with previous generations of Fitbit trackers.

The wearable displays useful workout information, including activity duration, pace, heart rate, and other exercise metrics. It also includes an altimeter for tracking elevation changes, which can be useful for runners and people who exercise outdoors.

Health Monitoring and Smart Features

The Fitbit Edge offers continuous heart-rate monitoring, sleep tracking, heart-rate variability measurements, and skin-temperature sensing. It also supports blood oxygen measurements and ECG assessments in supported regions.

The tracker includes everyday connected features such as call and message notifications, media controls, customisable watch faces, and Google Maps integration. Some features, including certain personalised coaching tools and advanced health insights, may require a subscription or have regional restrictions.

Some health insights are intended for general wellness rather than diagnosing medical conditions. Users should check local availability and feature requirements before buying the device.

Google Fitbit Edge Price and Availability

The Fitbit Edge starts at $179.99 in the United States. Pre-orders opened through the Google Store and participating retailers, with retail sales scheduled to begin on October 27, 2026.

A Stephen Curry Special Edition is also available for $219.99 in the US. The standard model comes in four colour options, while the special edition features a design inspired by the basketball player.

As of October 13, 2026, an official Indian launch date and India-specific price have not been announced. Buyers in India should wait for confirmed availability before making purchasing decisions.

Final Verdict

The Google Fitbit Edge combines a bright display, built-in GPS, extensive fitness tracking, and a battery rated for up to seven days. Its replaceable battery and repairable design also distinguish it from many conventional fitness bands.

For users who want more information on their wrist without the size and complexity of a full smartwatch, the Fitbit Edge could be worth considering. Its value will ultimately depend on regional pricing, real-world battery performance, and which health and coaching features are available to individual users.
